Sauteed snow peas
Snow peas are called “mangetout” in French, which means “eat all of it” because we eat both the edible pods and the seeds. To make this easy recipe, you need only a pot of water, one skillet, and a handful of simple pantry ingredients. Use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder—it makes all the difference, and sauteed garlic develops a wonderful aroma and crisp texture.

Tips for the snow peas recipe
- Usually, snow peas are very tender, with no strings. But depending on what you get at the grocery store, you might have to de-string the sides and snip off the tips; this way, the peas will get a better texture.
- To give an Asian twist to the recipe, add grated ginger and deglaze with 2 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce. Finish off the snow peas with a light drizzle of sesame oil and chili pepper flakes!
- To prep the snow peas in advance, boil them, then let them cool, dry, and store them in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, sauté in butter with the garlic.
How to keep snow peas leftovers
Keep any leftovers in an airtight container stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a little vegetable oil.
