Tips for the caprese avocado salad recipe
This Caprese avocado salad is light, refreshing, and super easy to make with all of the flavors of a classic caprese salad plus avocado for extra creaminess. Perfect at any picnic, potluck, or barbecue party!
How to make the balsamic reduction
This delicious avocado salad recipe is already great by itself, but you can bring it to another level with this simple balsamic reduction to drizzle over. Combine 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar together in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and simmer gently until the vinegar has reduced by half and has thickened to a syrup-like consistency — about 8 minutes. Allow the balsamic reduction du to cool down before using in the salad.
Can I make the caprese avocado salad ahead of time?
Yes absolutely! To make ahead, combine all the ingredients except for the avocado, pesto and the balsamic reduction and keep this refrigerated in separate containers, then add them just before serving the caprese avocado salad. You might want to cut avocado at the very last minute to avoid browning.
Any cheese substitution for the caprese avocado salad?
We use fresh mozzarella for this avocado salad. You can use bocconcini which are small mozzarella balls. But if you prefer something creamier, Burrata cheese is a wonderful option too!
What to serve with the caprese avocado salad?
This caprese avocado salad can be served on its own because it really does make a complete meal. But sometimes a little extra something is nice to enjoy on the side. A few suggestions to consider are garlic bread, garlic keto bread, or our delicious low carb cheese crackers!
