What’s cuter than a small black currant pie to brighten up a snack or a late meal, served with coffee or tea? I think it’s the perfect use for the blackcurrant curd, associated with a crunchy pastry, its subtle acidity brings a silly flavor to your tea time.
Ingredients list: blackcurrant curd tarts
(for 6 tarts)
- 6 tablespoons blackcurrant curd
- 3/4 cup (75g) flour
- 2 tbsp (25g) brown sugar
- 3 1/2 tbsp (50g) butter with salt grains
Preparation steps: blackcurrant curd tarts
In a bowl, combine flour and sugar.
Add butter pieces and work the dough until you obtain a smooth paste.
Butter 6 small pastry molds (if you use silicone molds as I did, no need for butter).
Make holes in dough with a knife.
Bake for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C).
After removing tarts from the oven, let cool before removing from molds.
Top each tartlet with a tablespoon of blackcurrant curd.
Refrigerate.
Note that even if fresh black currants are hard to find, you can buy frozen easily! So there is no reason to miss this tart recipe!
