As we all know, Labor Day is emotionally the final point of Summer season, celebrated with BBQ, and pool parties. To keep in the theme of warm weather, iced drinks are a no-brainer of course. You probably have ice, fresh mint and lime on your list… So if you are looking for the perfect cocktail recipe for this Labor Day, check out this royal mojito below! This one is going to taste great.
Ingredient list
Serve 1 glass:
- 2fl oz (6cl) dark rum
- 1/2 lime
- 1 tsp caster sugar
- Champagne or sparkling water
- 8 mint leaves
- 4 ice cubes
Directions
1. Pour the mint in a mortar with and the juice of the lime half. Crush to extract the mint flavors, but be careful not to make it a soup. It is not the goal.
2. Pour into a tall glass 7fl oz (20-25cl).
3. Add sugar and rum. Then pour the champagne or sparkling water to cover.
4. Add the ice cubes and stir.
5. Serve immediately.
Variations
Labor Day is also a great occasion to make drinks that are more fall-friendly, so get creative to celebrate this summer to fall transition!
Blackberries mojito royale: Muddle blackberries, mint leaves, sugar, and lime juice in a tall glass until berries are mostly crushed. Add vodka or rum and Champagne, and stir to combine. Top with ice cubes and garnish with a mint sprig and lime slice.
Strawberry mojito royale: In a chilled glass , muddle simple syrup, strawberries and mint leaves together. Crush the strawberries and mint leaves. Squeeze the lime juice, add the rum and stir well. Fill glass with ice and top off with Champagne. Garnish with mint sprigs or strawberry slices.
Blueberry mojito: slightly crush the blueberries with mint in a mortar, pour in a tall glass. Squeeze the lemon juice over, add the rum and stir. Fill with ice cubes and top with Champagne.
