Summer is here and comes with its dose of heat. Air conditioning is a luxury that some people do not have, so here are some tips to keep the house cool even in summer, and without the use of air conditioning.
For a house to stay cool in summer but warm in winter, it is essential that the house is fully insulated with double glazed windows, PVC if possible, especially with wooden shutters for more insulation.
The heat builds up during the day, so it is important to keep the windows closed and “cross” the shutters, leaving just a small opening to let light into the house. By contrast, by night, open windows and shutters to bring freshness.
To keep the freshness in the house, do not hesitate to use fans, standing or ceiling, that will make a draft. For efficiency, place a bowl of fresh water to the fan. Cool effect guaranteed!
